Gladys M. Glogau

Gladys M. Glogau, 91, of Topeka, and a former longtime resident of Parsons, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Aldersgate Village in Topeka.

She was born May 24, 1926 in Lyons, Kansas to Elmer Clarence and Eva Belle (Harmon) Brown.  As a young girl, she grew up and attended schools in Sterling, Kansas.  She graduated in 1944 from Sterling High School and later attended Emporia State University Teachers College.

While she was working as a Stanley distributor, she met her future husband.  On September 5, 1948, she and Emil A. Glogau were married.  Following her husband's retirement in 1983, the couple moved to Parsons where they lived until moving to Topeka's Aldersgate Village in 1999.

She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Parsons and the Order of the Eastern Star where she served as past Worthy Matron and was an active member for many years.  Gladys loved doting on her grandchildren and enjoyed needlework.

Survivors include:

One Son – Lee Glogau and his wife, Cyndy, of Lawrence, KS and their sons, Eric and Ryan

One Daughter – Emily Taft and her husband, Rich, of Albuquerque, NM, their daughter Nicole, her husband Mike, and son Alex and his fiancé, Kadie

One Sister – Betty Willis of Topeka, KS (long time Parsons resident)

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emil Glogau, on November 21, 2004; one brother, John Brown; and four sisters, Evalena (Spotts) King, Veaunita Potter, Ettamae Vincent, and Orinda Bell (Link) England.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.  Her family will celebrate her life at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, May 5, 2018 in Wesley Hall at Aldersgate Village, 7220 SW Asbury Drive, Topeka, KS 66614.

Memorials are suggested to the Good Samaritan Fund for Aldersgate Village.  These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
