Glen Louis Schofield, Jr., 74, of Miami, Oklahoma, passed away at 10:16 a.m., Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.
He was born on September 24, 1948, to Glen Louis and Lois Jean (Ridgway) Schofield in Oswego, Kansas. As a young boy, he moved with his family to California, where he grew up and attended school, graduating from Norwalk High School in Norwalk, California, in 1967.
Following high school, Glen served in the United States Marines. He bravely served our country in the Vietnam War and was awarded a Purple Heart. After being honorably discharged, he returned to the Chetopa area, where he worked as an iron worker. For over 35 years, he was a member of the Tulsa Local IBEW 584.
A lifelong Christian, Glen loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially his grandchildren. His grandchildren could definitively say Glen was the best grandpa in the world. Glen enjoyed woodworking and classic cars. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and of the Vietnam VNV Motorcycle Club.
On July 25, 1992, Glen and Cherie Kay Waun were united in marriage in Parsons. She survives of the home.

One daughter – Wendy Schofield of Reed Springs, Missouri
Daughters-in-law – Sherry Basore, Wendy Baldwin, Shanna Barnett, and Tiffany Hable
Ten grandchildren – Trace Baldwin (Olivia), Blayne Baldwin, Delaney Schofield, Ozreale Baldwin, Vanderlei Baldwin, Zaylain Baldwin, Nyallie Baldwin, Zanthfire Baldwin, Blakely Basore, and Megan Westhoff
Two great-grandchildren – Adley Dixon and Jax Dixon
One uncle – Tom Ridgway (Martha) of Chetopa, Kansas
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa. Burial with military honors will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in rural Dennis.
