Glen W. Sharp, Jr., 72, of Chetopa, passed away at 10:41 a.m., Friday, November 4, 2016 in the Emergency Room at Labette Health.
He was born March 7, 1944 in Vinita, Oklahoma to Glen W. Sharp, Sr. and Dorthea (Todd) Sharp. As a young boy, he attended school in Baxter Springs, Kansas.
Glen served in the United States Navy from 1963-1967 during the Vietnam War. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to Southeast Kansas where he worked at an auto shop and Tank and Tower in Pittsburg. He then worked as an explosives operator at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant from 1968 until retiring in 2006.
He was a member of the Community Bible Church in Chetopa. Glen enjoyed mowing, gardening, and tinkering. He was a loving husband and father who always put his family first.
He and Rhonda L. Bales were married September 23, 1968 in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives of the home.
In addition to his wife, survivors include one daughter, Sharon Sharp, of Chetopa.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Carol Dean.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the Community Bible Church in Chetopa.
