Glendon L. Kuffler, 86, of Parsons, died at 9:45 p.m., Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society in Parsons.
He was born July 2, 1928 in Braman, Oklahoma to John P. and Jessie A. (Hecox) Kuffler. He attended Labette County Community High School in Altamont and later attended college in California.
He served in the United States Air Force 20 years before retiring. Following his retirement from the military, he worked five years at PPG Corporation and later Enron Corporation. While living in Plainfield, Illinois, he had owned and operated a vehicle inspection company before returning to Parsons in 1996.
He was a member of the Parsons Masonic Lodge No. 117, A.F. & A.M. where he had served as Master Mason, Elks BPOE Lodge No. 527 where he had served as Exalted Ruler, and Parsons Amateur Woodworkers Society (PAWS) where he had served as past president. He enjoyed restoring antique automobiles and woodworking.
He and Mary Grace Holding were married in Parsons. They later divorced. On February 1, 1955, he and Helen Froschauer were married in Heidelberg, Germany. She survives of the home.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Carol Holmes and Karen Kuffler, both of Parsons; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, two brothers, John "Jack" Kuffler, Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Copley, OH, and Jerry Kuffler and his wife, Susie, of Parsons, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 15, 2014 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in the Fort Scott National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
