Maxine Blundell, 79, of Wichita, formerly of Chetopa, died at 4:30 a.m., Sunday, October 5, 2008, at the home of her son, Christopher Blundell, in Wichita, where she had resided since 2004 due to failing health.
She was born November 19, 1928, in Chetopa, Kansas, to John Wesley and Lydia Jane (Hill) Baker. As a young girl, she grew up and attended schools in Chetopa. At the age of 60, she earned her Associate degree from Labette Community College in Parsons.
Through the years, she was employed at various businesses in Chetopa. She enjoyed painting and crafts. She especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chetopa.
She and Howard Lee Blundell, Sr. were married in Chetopa. He preceded her in death in June 1994.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, October 10, 2008, at Oakhill Cemetery in Chetopa. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Thursday, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa.
