Harold R. "Roy" Lindeberg, 81, of Parsons, passed away the afternoon of Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at his home.
He was born on October 5, 1940, to Harold V. and Ruby Mae (Best) Lindeberg in Pawnee County, Oklahoma. As a small child, he moved with his family to Oswego, where he attended Oswego Westside Grade School and graduated from Labette County Community High School in 1959. Following high school, Roy earned an Associate's Degree from Labette Community College.
From 1960 to 1963, Roy served in the United States Army in Germany. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1967 to 1983. During his tours of duty, he served in Vietnam, Diego Garcia, Guam, Puerto Rico, and Okinawa, as well as several places in the United States. Following his retirement from the military, Roy worked in law enforcement. Over the years, he worked as a deputy for the Burlington Police Department, as dispatcher for Labette County Sheriff and the city of Altamont and as the assistant chief of police in Humboldt until he had to take disability retirement. For several years, he was also a truck driver for Ajax in Oswego and BC in Parsons.
He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association and the American Legion Post 102 in Erie.
On November 10, 1981, Roy and Joy (Cramer) Paulson were united in marriage in Parsons. She preceded him in death on July 8, 2011.

One daughter – Kathy A. Lindeberg of Parsons, Kansas
Four grandchildren
Three great-grandchildren
One sister – Veronica Street of Coweta, Oklahoma
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joy; his parents; his son, Bryan Lindeberg; and one brother-in-law, Edward Street.
The funeral service with military honors presented by Brown-Bishop, Post # 704 will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday, September 3, 2022, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The family will receive from 1:00 p.m. until the service begins. Burial will be at a later date at Oswego Cemetery.
