Harold J. Rye, 66, of Parsons, passed away at 5:30 p.m., Saturday, March 21, 2015 at his home after bravely enduring multiple illnesses.

He was born July 28, 1948 in Cairo, Illinois to Harold Lloyd and Gracie May (Schellingberger) Rye. He graduated from high school in Boonville, Missouri and later earned an Associate degree from Labette Community Junior College in Parsons.

On June 20, 1993, he and JoDee Hardman were married in Las Vegas, Nevada. While working for C and R Pipeline in Houston, he lived and worked in Hawaii for several years. He then returned to Missouri where he worked at the Missouri State Penitentiary and later became employed by The Schwan Food Company as a route sales manager.

While attending Labette Community Junior College, Harold had several leading roles while participating in theatre. In addition to acting, he also enjoyed traveling, fishing, listening to music, and watching old classic movies. Most of all, he loved helping people, making them smile, laugh, and be happy.

Survivors include:
Wife – JoDee Rye of the home
Two Sisters – Marita Closser Pilot Grove, MO
Beverly Ball Parsons, KS
Numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews who fondly remember "Uncle Harold."
Several In-laws
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Charles Stanley Rye and Troy Edwin Rye.

Following cremation, a Celebration of Life and family visitation will be held at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, March 31, 2015.
