Hazel M. Kuffler, 92, of Parsons, died at 10:24 a.m., Friday, February 7, 2014 at Elm Haven West Nursing Home in Parsons.
She was born January 22, 1922 in Garvin, Oklahoma to Joe and Nancy "Ellen" (Whitley) Bayless. At the age of six, she moved with her family to Parsons where she attended schools.
On October 18, 1942, she and Thomas F. Kuffler were married in Bakersfield, California. Through the years she had worked as a waitress, from 1943-1944 at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant, Farrell's Grocery Store from 1965-1966, and at the J.C. Penney catalog department from 1967 until retiring as supervisor in 1984. She was also owner of Washington Place in Parsons.
She was a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, now St. Patrick's Catholic Church, and its Altar Society. Hazel volunteered as a "pink lady" at Labette County Medical Center for 15 years and had also assisted with the Bloodmobile numerous years. In earlier years she enjoyed playing bridge, bowling, crafts, sewing, and fishing. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Kuffler, on January 19, 1991; four brothers, three sisters, and one great-grandson, Lane Harwood Shadley.
The funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Parsons. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m., Monday, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The family will receive friends at 6:30 p.m., Monday, following the rosary at the funeral home.
