Hazel Lucille Roberts, 95, formerly of Altamont, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at her granddaughter's residence in Lafayette, Louisiana.
She was born May 8, 1912, near Cherryvale, Kansas, to Jesse and Talitha (Thompson) Pearce.
She and Stanley Parker Botts were married. Following marriage, they moved to a farm in Edna, Kansas, where he passed away in 1967. For a time, she was employed at J. J. Newberry's and later Continental Can Company in Coffeyville. She later married Malcolm Roberts on August 22, 1969, at Reno, Nevada. They made their home in Brownsville, Oregon, for many years. They later moved to Mena, Arkansas, and finally to Altamont, Kansas. He preceded her in death in 1997. She enjoyed her life as a wife and traveling companion.
She was a loving grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed spending time with her family and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a member of the Altamont Christian Church.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Cheryl Flaharty Scurlock, her husband Richard (Rick), and their sons, Allen M. Scurlock, Kristopher L. Greene, Jeffrey A. Greene, and his wife, Sandra, and Robert M. Greene, his wife, Meaghan, and their son, Grady A. Greene; and her grandson, Kevin M. Flaharty, his wife, Jennifer, and their son, Corey Parker Flaharty, all of Louisiana; and her step-granddaughter, Debbie Roberts Birdwell, her husband,Larry, their children Michele Owens and her husband, Rickey, Karri Booth, her husband Josh and their daughter, Kiarah, and Phillip Birdwell, all of Oklahoma
She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Mary Ruth Botts and Judith C. Botts Flaharty; four brothers, Ray Pearce, Lonnie Pearce, Ervin Pearce and Charles Pearce; and a sister, Dorothy Pearce Alvergue.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 2, 2007, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont. Burial will be in the Mound Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
