Helen L. Stacy, 89, of Parsons, died at 8:30 p.m., Saturday, June 9, 2012, in the Emergency Room at Labette Health. She had been in failing health.
She was born February 20, 1923, in Burden, Kansas, to Maurice and Rosa (Hall) Hall. She grew up in Burden until moving with her family, at the age of 10, to Winfield, Kansas, where she was a 1941 graduate of Winfield High School.
She worked in a doctor's office before moving to Maine where she lived two years. She then lived in El Paso, Texas for two years before returning to Winfield. She also lived in Pratt, Kansas, for a time before returning to Winfield. In 1970, she moved to Parsons where she was employed by the Parsons Co-op from 1970-1981; and later at the City of Parsons in the Water Department as bookkeeper from April of 1981 through May of 1988. She then worked at the Commercial Bank in Parsons as a teller until retiring in 2006.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Parsons, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary. In earlier years, she was an avid bowler and enjoyed knitting and making pies, and was fondly known to many as the "Parsons Pie Lady". She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She and Tom Smith were married June 28, 1942, in Winfield. He preceded her in death November 3, 1989. On February 7, 2004, she and Donald C. Stacy, Sr. were married. He survives.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, one sister, one son, Kenneth Smith; and one great-grandson, Drew Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 15, 2012 at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Udall Cemetery at 3:00 p.m., on Friday. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
