Helen Marie Vail

October 13, 1928 — July 2, 2007

Helen Marie Vail, 78, of rural Neodesha, died at 5:45 p.m., Monday, July 2, 2007, at Labette Health in Parsons.

She was born October 13, 1928, in Halls Summit, Kansas, to Earl Lorenzo and Mary Ruth (Eppard) Kern. She grew up and attended schools in Burlington. While living in Desoto, she worked at the Army Ammunition Plant and restaurants. She later moved to Coffeyville, then Cherryvale, before moving to Neodesha in 1980. She was employed by Automotive Control in Independence for several years before retiring in 1992.

She and William "Bill" Vail were married July 4, 1980, at their home in rural Neodesha.

She enjoyed flowers, fishing, bird-watching and painting. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She had attended the Assembly of God Church in Cherryvale and was a member of the American Association of Retired People (AARP).

One Sister – Alline Massey Lawrence, KS

She was preceded in death by one son, Melvin Soper, on July 6, 2005; two brothers and two sisters.

Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 6, 2007, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The family will receive friends following the memorial service.
