Helen L. Weidert, 85, of Parsons, passed away at 5:30 a.m., Sunday, September 16, 2018 at the Parsons Good Samaritan Society.

She was born to Andrew and Esther (Bisnett) Kuffler on October 25, 1932 in rural Albany, Kansas. She then lived in the rural Iola, Kansas area and attended grade school there for four years until moving with her family to rural Parsons where she grew up.  She graduated from Parsons High School in 1950.

Helen was united in marriage to Lewis V. Weidert on May 1, 1954 in Erie, Kansas.  He preceded her in death on November 4, 2015.  They had celebrated 61 years of marriage in May of 2015.   Following marriage, they lived in the rural Parsons area throughout their lives.   She worked for Johnson's Cafe for a few years during high school and early marriage and later worked at the Sears store in Parsons for five years. Helen then began working at the J. C. Penney store in Parsons where she worked for over 34 years.

She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Parsons. Helen enjoyed music, square dancing, and various crafts, especially painting. She also enjoyed playing games and practical jokes.

She rarely missed her children's and grandchildren's activities and was always their number one fan.

Survivors include two sons, Terry Weidert (Peggy) of Parsons and Gary Weidert (Janelle) of Parsons; six grandchildren, Stacey Decker (Casey), Tammy Hayward (Mike), Kala Robinson (Reed), Drew Weidert (Sarah), Cory Wright and Jennifer Wright; twelve great-grandchildren, and one brother, Edward Kuffler (Bernadine) of Edna, Kansas.

In addition to her husband, Lewis, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Michael and Tommy Kuffler.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home with Pastor Christie Walker officiating.  Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Parsons.  The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Center Bethel Church Youth Group. These may be left at or mailed to the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS  67357.
