Henrietta Wolverton, 90, of Parsons, passed away at her home at 8:51 p.m., Monday, November 18, 2019.

She was born, March 24, 1929 at rural McCune, Kansas to Thomas Jesse Blackburn and Elsie Marie (Fox) Blackburn. Henrietta grew up and attended school in the rural McCune area and then attended the Parsons High School where she graduated in 1947. Following high school, she worked for a time for the Hallmark Cards Company in Parsons.

Henrietta was united in marriage to Howard Leon Wolverton on July 29, 1948 in Parsons, Kansas. He preceded her in death on December 28, 2003.   Following their marriage, while he worked as a pipeline welder, their family traveled and lived in several states where his work took him. Later, Henrietta worked for the Gibson Store in Parsons and later Walmart in the office. She also worked for the JC Penney and Stephen's Women's Wear stores in Parsons. She then began her career with the People's Savings and Loan in Parsons where she eventually became a vice-president. Later she worked at the former Lambert-Duffy-Melone store in Parsons for a time.

Henrietta loved spending time with her family and being outdoors mowing the lawn or caring for her home. She also enjoyed bowling and going to Grand Lake where they had a home. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Parsons and was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Association in Parsons and had been a member of the Social Order of Beauceant in the past. In earlier years, she was a member of the former Washington Avenue United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one son, Rick Wolverton, of the home; two daughters, Gail Gallo, of Parsons and Gerry Casper and her husband, Frank of Parsons; five grandchildren, Misty Cruse, Jesse Wolverton, Travis Wolverton, Samantha Paulson and Clayton Paulson; three great-grandchildren, Jordan Hickman, Annie Cruse and Dierks Cruse; three great-great-granddaughters, Kinzie, Ella and Ava Hickman and two sisters, Peggy Maxwell of Parsons and Patsy Woodroof of Houston, Texas.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Leon, she was preceded in death by one son, Roland Wolverton, who passed away August 29, 2013, a son-in-law, Gary Gallo who passed away January 7, 2016 and one grandson, Gary Joe Gallo, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 22, 2019 at the Wesley United Methodist Church with Pastor Tim Bever officiating.   Following cremation, burial will take place later at the Memorial Lawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m., Thursday.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Proud Animal Lovers Shelter (PALS) and these may be left at or mailed to the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, PO Box 374, Parsons, KS  67357.
