Henry H. Herold, 83, of rural Edna, died at 3:15 p.m., Tuesday, September 1, 2009, from injuries received in a farm-related accident.
He was born June 26, 1926, in Spearville, Kansas, to Louis G. Herold, Sr., and Cressie F. (Tubbs) Herold. As a young boy, he grew up on a farm south of Offerle, Kansas, and in 1932, moved with his family to the Altamont area where he attended schools and graduated from Labette County Community High School in 1944.
He served in the U.S. Army as a mechanic from 1944-1946 in Europe. Following his discharge, he worked in Abilene, Kansas, Coffeyville, Kansas, and in 1948, began farming in the rural Altamont and Edna areas.
He and Pauline Scott were married in September 29, 1946, at the First Baptist Church in Altamont. She preceded him in death December 4, 1998. On August 1, 2002, he and Neila (Olson) Buetow were united in marriage. She survives of the home.
Mr. Herold was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Altamont. He also was a member of Farm Bureau and, in earlier years, served as Director of Federal Land Bank. He enjoyed traveling, working on engines, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Louis G. Herold, Jr.; one granddaughter, Cindy Herold; one stepson, Mark Buetow; and one step-grandson, David Mueller.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 5, 2009, at the Grace Baptist Church in Altamont. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Altamont. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m., Friday, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont.
