HENRY J. QUIRIN, 94, of Parsons passed away peacefully on February 9, 2015 with family at his side at Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul.
Henry was born on October 17, 1920 to Henry J. Quirin and Mary (Journot) Quirin. He married Leona Gillmore on October 22, 1938. Henry and Leona enjoyed over 76 years together with 47 of those years being in the home that Henry personally constructed. Prior to moving to this home in Parsons, Henry and Leona resided and farmed the 80-acre Quirin homeplace located northeast of Parsons that was originally homesteaded by Henry's grandfather. It was there where Henry spent most of his life and he and Leona would raise their three children. After selling the farm and moving to town, Henry became a long-time, dedicated employee of Ace Hardware in Parsons serving as the store's freight manager.
Henry was a long-time member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church. During much of his life, he enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, country music, and playing cards with his family and friends. During his early years, he also enjoyed playing the fiddle at the barn dances that he and Leona would regularly attend. Henry's span of life provided him with many experiences both good and bad. His children and grandchildren were blessed many times over with those stories he commonly shared.
Survivors include, Leona, his beloved wife of 76 years; children James (Dixie) Quirin of Parsons, KS, Carol Trammell of Kansas City, KS, and Bonnie (Gene) LeTourneau of Mt. Prospect, IL; grandchildren Sabrina, Susan, Fred, Jeff, Grant, Stacy, and Garrett; and great-grandchildren Krystle, Tiffany, Dalton, Dylan, Danica, Jayce, Jager, and Greyson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and one brother.
