Herman George Veenstra, 48, of Edna Kansas, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Freeman Heart Institute in Joplin, Missouri.
He was born May 29, 1966 in Hammond, Indiana to Daniel Veenstra, Sr. and Mardell (Whitten) Veenstra. At the age of one, he moved with his family to Mound Valley, Kansas.
He and his wife owned and operated Drywall Done Right. He was a very hard-working and passionate man, selfless, and always put others needs before his own.
He enjoyed jamming on his guitar and tending to his garden. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He was married to Tanya Mae Tate, July 27, 2013 at the Cross Timbers Community Church in Edna. They had been together since March 21, 1994. They were both baptized at Cross Timbers Community Church where they were active members and volunteers.
He is survived by his wife, Tanya Mae Tate, of the home; four children, Brandon Veenstra and his wife, Cecilia, of Rose Hill, KS; Lance Winkler of Coffeyville, KS, Lauren Tate of Guthrie, OK, and Life Veenstra, of the home; three grandchildren, Alexis Veenstra, Joni Tate, and Tristen Veenstra; his mother, Mardell Veenstra, of Mound Valley, KS; his father, Dan Veenstra, Sr., of Mound Valley, KS; four brothers, Daniel Veenstra, Jr. and his wife, Judy, of Mound Valley, KS, Joseph Veenstra and his wife, Alberta, of Tampa, FL, Robert Veenstra, of Mound Valley, KS, and Craig Veenstra and his wife, Shelley, of Wichita, KS; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Dale Veenstra.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Cross Timbers Community Church, 115 N. Labette, in Edna.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at noon on Friday at the church. Private burial will be held by the family.
