Hosea H. Banzet, 89, of rural Altamont, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, February 12, 2026.
He was born on May 19, 1936, to Hosea H. and Oma (Ford) Banzet in Pampa, Texas. In 1956, he graduated from Labette County Community High School.
Following high school, Hosea served in the United States Army. His service time was during the Cuba Flare up and he was stationed in St. Andra De Lu France as a Specialist 4th Class. Also, during his service to his country, Hosea married Mildred Mae Adams on March 26, 1959.
For 22 years Hosea was a welder for Cessna Aircraft. When he returned to Labette County, he worked for Ruskins Manufacturing for over 20 years. While doing his hourly job, he also farmed and was a cattleman.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Altamont.
Survivors include:
His wife of 67 years – Mildred Banzet, of the home
One son – Duane Banzet and his wife, Vickie
Two daughters – Sharon Smith and her husband, John
Gloria Webster and her husband, Barry
Four grandchildren – Kayla Katzer and her husband, Dillon; April Sharer and her husband, Cory; Sara Martin; and Austin Banzet
Three great-granddaughters
Five great-grandsons
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Ernestine Chenowith and Dorris Taylor.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 20, 2026, at the First Baptist Church in Altamont. Friends may stop by and sign the register from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Thursday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Altamont or The 506 Foundation to benefit the Labette County High School Welding Department. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
