Imogene I. Rankins, 80, of Altamont, died at 3:35 a.m., Thursday, April 8, 2010, at Labette Health in Parsons.
She was born June 12, 1929, in Altamont, to Hendrick "Alfred" and Margie (Warbington) Raymond. As a young girl, she grew up in Altamont where she attended schools and was a 1946 graduate of Labette County Community High School.
She and Eugene Ellis Rankins were married September 11, 1946, in rural Edna, Kansas. They made their home in Altamont where they raised their family of seven children. Imogene worked at Arkhaven Nursing Home, in Altamont, 34 years as a certified medication aide.
She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and studying Altamont history. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Rankins, April 19, 1999; and one brother, Larry Raymond.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 10, 2010, at Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Altamont. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
