Ivan Ray Lee Hendrix Buchanan, 35, of Parsons, passed away at 2:36 p.m., Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at Labette Health.
He was born on February 16, 1986, to E. G. and Melba Kay (Cook) Buchanan, Jr. in Tlihina, Oklahoma. As a young boy, he grew up and attended school in Tuskahoma and McAlester, Oklahoma. He moved with his family to Johnson County, Arkansas, where he graduated from Westside High School.
Following high school, Ivan moved to Parsons and worked at Wal Mart for a time. He then worked at Grandview Products until becoming disabled from an accident in December 2010.
Ivan went to the family Baptist church in Tuskahoma, Oklahoma as a child. He was a member of the Choctaw Nation Tribe.
His greatest enjoyment came from being with his family and friends. Known for having a heart of gold, Ivan loved to make those around him laugh. He also loved fishing, music, singing and playing scratcher lottery tickets.

His paternal grandfather – E.G. Buchanan, Sr. of Clayton, Oklahoma
Nieces and Nephews – Emery, Brian, Hayden and Dakota Smith; and Brylee Buchanan
Many other nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly
Uncles – Donnie Buchanan of Arkansas
Ricky Cook (Annie) of Clayton, Oklahoma
Aunts – Nancy Trent (Tim) of Arkansas
Tena Boatright (Glendon) of Clayton, Oklahoma
Numerous cousins, great aunts and uncles, whom he loved
He was preceded in death by his dad, E. G. "Bo" Buchanan, Jr.; his paternal grandmother, Carmaleta Buchanan; his maternal grandparents, Robert and Katherine Cook; his aunt, Iva Stenner; his uncle, Daniels Woods; and his cousin, Jeffrey Stenner.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday, October 23, 2021, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
