Ivan Monty Rexwinkle passed peacefully from this life to be with Jesus on November 10, 2024. He is resting in the arms of God. Ivan was born on November 29, 1936, to Irvin Monroe Rexwinkle and Verdna Azila (Jones) Rexwinkle in rural Edna, Kansas.
Ivan attended Community Bible Church in Chetopa. Ivan loved the Lord and his family. He had a love for all people. Wherever he went, Ivan was likely to strike up a conversation with a stranger and make a new friend.
Ivan graduated from Labette County High School. He was a rancher and cattle order buyer. If you travel in this area, you are likely to see some of the dozens of corrals, pipe fences and cattle working facilities that Ivan designed and built.
When Ivan retired from building pipe corrals, he merged his love of children and his love of ranching by making highly sought-after wooden toys with a ranch theme. Some examples of his work are hand-crafted horses, cattle, dogs, sheep, pigs, corrals, trucks, tractors, barns, hay feeders and more. He also built bird feeders.
Ivan is survived by Barbara Rexwinkle, his wife of 40 years, his children, Rick Rexwinkle, Phil Rexwinkle (Linda), Diane Bedwell (Jeff), Rick Rogers (Karen), Roudy Rogers (Cherry), 17 grandchildren and great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Ivan is preceded in death by four sisters, Reva Jean Harden, Billie Jo Morgan, Virginia Colleen Hoppock, and Karen Kay Pogue. Also, preceding Ivan in death were two brothers, Cleo Irvin Rexwinkle and Infant Baby Rexwinkle, two grandchildren, Jarod Bedwell and Justin Bedwell and a daughter-in-law D'Ann Rexwinkle.
Visitation will be held Thursday, November 14, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Community Bible Church in Chetopa, Kansas. Services for Ivan will be at 10:30 am Friday, November 15, at Community Bible Church. Graveside service will be at Edna Cemetery on Friday, November 15th at 2:00 pm.
