John L. "J. L." Cramer, 84, of rural Mound Valley, died at 9:20 p.m., Tuesday, November 9, 2010, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center – St. Francis Campus in Wichita.
He was born May 18, 1926, in Garber, Oklahoma, to Leonard "Len" and Eva "Maye" (Matteson) Cramer. He grew up and attended schools in Garber and was a graduate of Garber High School.
During World War II, he was drafted into the United States Army serving in the Philippines and Japan. Following his honorable discharge in 1946, he returned to Garber.
He and Vera Marie Meier were married December 24, 1946, in Garber. In 1947, the couple moved to Mound Valley where they made their home, raised their family, and farmed. For numerous years, he also worked at the SEK Experiment Station, retiring in 1988.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with family and friends.

Bobby Cramer and wife, Linda Parsons, KS
One Daughter – Linda King and husband, Gary Yantis, TX
Ten Grandchildren
Seventeen Great-Grandchildren
One Brother – Charles Cramer and wife, Golda rural Mound Valley, KS
He was preceded in death by one sister, Wanda Maye Dessenberger; one grandson, Gregg Lee Cramer; and one great-grandson, Christian Lee Cramer.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 13, 2010, at the Mound Valley Christian Church. Burial will be in Mound Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until service time, Saturday, at the church.
