He was born December 11, 1955 in Parsons, Kansas to Melvin and Eileen (Jones) Trim. J. L. grew up in the Erie area where he graduated from Erie High School.
Following high school, he began his lifelong career as a truck driver. He eventually retired from truck driving due to Parkinson's disease.
J. L. loved life. He loved people. He loved children. One thing he taught his family was there is always a little good in everyone. He lived by this all the time and always tried to do what was best in every situation. He enjoyed gardening and especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, and friends.
He and Kristi Pape were married April 1, 1997 in Miami, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Trim, in 1994; and his mother, Eileen Trim, in 2008.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 4, 2018 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
