Jack A. Hartgraves, Jr., a dedicated and hardworking man whose life was marked by loyalty to his family and a strong work ethic, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2026, in Chetopa, Kansas.
He was born on August 16, 1958, in Wichita, Kansas, to Jack A. Hartgraves, Sr. and Geraldine (Morris) Hartgraves.
Jack built a remarkable career as a roofing contractor, owning and operating his own roofing company for many years. His diligent efforts in this trade demonstrated not only his expertise but also his steadfast dedication to providing for his family. After stepping back from roofing, Jack continued to work by driving a truck.
Throughout his life, Jack’s interests reflected a hands-on approach and a love for both challenges and leisure. He was passionate about flipping houses, a pursuit he engaged in throughout his life to support his endeavors. Among his most cherished accomplishments was the 27 years he devoted to restoring a 1955 station wagon, a project that symbolized both his patience and meticulous nature. Upon selling this beloved vehicle, Jack invested the proceeds into his final project house in Chetopa, Kansas. This home served as a sanctuary where he could relish fishing, unwind, and spend treasured moments with his family during his retirement years. Besides fishing, Jack occasionally enjoyed visiting the casino.
Survivors include:
Son, Jason Hartgraves, and wife Mari of El Dorado, Kansas
Daughter, Christa Hartgraves, of Oklahoma
Three grandchildren—Eli, Gabe, and Candice
Niece, Elisha Martinez, and her husband Oscar of Texas
Jack was preceded in death by father, Jack A. Hartgraves, Sr., mother, Geraldine Jackson, and his brother, Roger Hartgraves.
There are no services at this time. Cremation is under the direction of Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Chetopa, Kansas.
