Jack D. V. Brown, 78, of Guest Home Estates in Erie, died at 3:35 p.m., Saturday, September 20, 2008, at Elmhaven East Nursing Home in Parsons. He had been in failing health.
He was born June 9, 1930, in St. Paul, Kansas, to William M. and Myrtle A. (Wilson) Brown. As a young boy, he grew up in St. Paul, Kansas, where he attended schools. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954. Through the years, he worked as a truck driver for O'Brien Rock Company, U.S. Steel, and Beachner Grain, retiring from there four years ago.
He enjoyed fishing and repairing lawn mowers. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans.
He and Sandra McDonald were married September 17, 1956. They later divorced.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one great-grandson.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 25, 2008, at Hope Cemetery, north of St. Paul. Friends may call after 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 24, 2008, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
