James W. Hill

James W. Hill, 39, of Cherryvale, passed away at 2:40 a.m., Friday, May 19, 2017 near Leon, Kansas from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was born September 19, 1977 in Houston, Texas to Donald James and Lynn Blanche (Kingsberry) Hill.  As a young boy, he grew up in Houston.  He attended Krahn Elementary School in Spring, Texas before attending Dearing Elementary School while living in Coffeyville, Kansas.  He then moved to Layton, Utah with his family before returning to Southeast Kansas where he graduated from Labette County High School in Altamont.  He then attended Pittsburg State University where he earned an Associate degree in Automotive Technology with honors.

He worked as a Master technician at Quality Toyota in Independence, then at Rapid Ways in Neodesha.  He later worked as a Heavy Equipment Fleet Maintenance Supervisor at Durham School Services and Allied Waste. Later he became a Millwright foreman. He was a very talented individual who prided himself in doing electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and construction work.

He was baptized in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Spring, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his father, Don Hill, on April 10, 2005.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont.  Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, May 28, 2017 at the Cherryvale Community Center.  A potluck dinner will immediately follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to a fund for his infant son. Contributions made payable to Aiden Hill may be left at or mailed to Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 325, Altamont, KS 67330.
