James H. "Jim" Lucke

James H. "Jim" Lucke, 68, of Parsons, died at 3:37 p.m., Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri following a lengthy illness at the University of Kansas Medical Center.

He was born October 6, 1945 in Waynesville, Missouri to Howard Lee and Edna Sabina (McGowan) Lucke. As a young boy, he attended elementary schools in Chanute and Erie and later attended high school in Erie.

Following high school, he worked at Princess Homes in Parsons and Advanced Systems Homes in Chanute. He then worked as a self-employed carpenter until retiring in 2000.

He enjoyed going to the lake, watching westerns, classic cars, and drag racing, and in earlier years, hunting. Jim especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

On June 12, 1965, he and Cynthia Sue Hill were married in Erie.

Survivors include two daughters, Tracy Zimmerman and husband, Billy Littlejohn, of Overland Park, KS and Debbie Beachner and husband, Tom, of Olathe, KS; four grandchildren, Zakary, Phoebe, Gretchen and Isaac; one great-granddaughter, Taylor; three brothers, Jack Lucke of Buffalo, KS, Jerry Lucke of Mulberry, KS, and Joe Lucke of Chanute, KS; two sisters, "Ike" Edwards and Dee Haviland, both of Parsons, KS; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Lucke, on May 18, 1970; his mother, Edna Lucke, on August 23, 2002; one brother, John Lucke; three sisters, Mary Samson and infants Patricia and Virginia Lucke; and one son, James Howard "Jamie" Lucke, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 17, 2014 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in East Hill Cemetery in Erie. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
