James A. Peoples

Altamont

James A. "Jim" Peoples, 79, of Altamont, passed away at 9:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at his home.

James Allen Peoples was born on October 19, 1943, to Leonard A. and Bernice M. (Pilkington) Peoples near the KOP Electric Plant on the Peoples Dairy Farm.  As a young boy, he grew up and attended school in rural Parsons, graduating from Labette County Community High School in 1961.

Jim worked at Adventure Line (now Ducommon) from 1965 to 1972 when he began work at Ruskin Manufacturing at Galesburg where he served as a general supervisor of the Tool & Die Department until his retirement in 2000.

Jim was married Bonnie Strickland on June 23, 1984 at Oswego, Kansas.  She preceded him in death on June 7, 1998.

On July 1, 2000, Jim and Gayle Hoppock were united in marriage in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.  Gayle survives of the home.

Three Step Daughters:  Becky Davis (Matthew) of rural Altamont, KS

Rachel Harness (Billy) of Mound Valley, KS

Jenny Winters (D.J.) of rural Mound Valley, KS

Seventeen Grandchildren:  Bobbie Jo Peoples (Kevin); Kayla Peoples (Cody); Jake Peoples (Tamra); Christopher Peoples; Krystal Wheeler; Adam Pease; Michael Pease (Lynnsey); Mickey Plumlee (Miranda); Micha George; Chellsea and Jack Harness; Tatum Westervelt (Nick); Chase Winters (Jacob Potter); Chance Winters (Bryanna); Faith Winters; Savannah and Teagan Shaw; and a special niece, Christy Cibes.

Great-Grandchildren:  Brayden and Alexis Wise; Brennen and Colby Pease; Madeline and Mallory Plumlee; Braxton and Owen George; Kameron and Amanda Wheeler; Landon Miller; Aaron Smith; Bronc and Layne Peoples; Jullius Glass; Rhettleigh and Ryker Westervelt; and Gwyneth Winters

Four Sisters: Jane Hugo (Charles); Joyce (Gary) Janssen; Louise Newbanks (Leon); and Judy Wadino (Tom)

In addition to his parents and his wife, Bonnie, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Helms and her children, Thomas and Diane; a grandson, Darran Plumlee; and a sister, Jo George.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 1, 2023 at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at Altamont with Pastor Les Green officiating.  Friends may call to sign the book at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 31 st .

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Western Way Cowboy Church.  These may be left at or mailed to the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, PO Box 374, Parsons, KS  67357.
