James Anthony "Tony" Templeton

James Anthony "Tony" Templeton, 72, of Parsons, died at 11:24 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 2014 at his home. He was born January 29, 1941 in Parsons, Kansas to James Ralph and Agnes Jane (Moriarity) Templeton. He grew up in Parsons where he attended St. Patrick Catholic School and was a 1959 graduate of St. Patrick High School. Following high school, he worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad before joining the United States Navy where he served from June of 1963 through May of 1973. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to Parsons where he worked for Xerox for a short time. He then worked as a draftsman at Columbian TecTank for 31 years until retiring in 2009. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Parsons and a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. In earlier years, he enjoyed bowling and working on cars and was a member of Flatlanders Motor Club. He and Vivian "Susie" Yandell were married on March 21, 1964. They later divorced. On January 29, 1981, he and Vicki Hills were married. She survives of the home. In addition to his wife, survivors include: One Son – Ryan Templeton of the home Three Daughters – Erin McKinney and husband, Scott Chanute, KS Katie Hizey and husband, Sean Parsons, KS Cristine Deibler and husband, Blake Shawnee, KS Nine Grandchildren – Carley, Jesse, Libby, Meagan, Morgan, Becca, Ava, Hayes and Ella Numerous Nieces, Nephews and Cousins He was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Johnston. The funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 30, 2014 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Parsons. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The Knights of Columbus rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, followed by the parish rosary at 7:00 p.m., at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The family will receive friends at 7:30 p.m., following the rosaries at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to St. Patrick School Endowment Fund.
