Janice K. Hentzen, 78, of Parsons, passed away at 8:00 p.m., Saturday, June 19, 2021 at the Elmhaven Nursing Home in Parsons.
Janice Kay Ginn was born March 6, 1943 in Parsons, Kansas the daughter of Donald Thomas Ginn and Maxine A. (Olson) Ginn. Janice grew up and attended schools in Parsons, graduating from the Parsons High School in 1961, she then attended the Parsons Junior College for a time.
Janice was united in marriage to Jack O. Hentzen on January 18, 1963 in Parsons. He preceded her in death on February 27, 1997. Janice served as secretary to Wallace Guthridge, former Superintendent of USD 503, for ten years. She also worked for William Dearth and Walter Seeley at Bill Dearth Insurance for a time.
In August of 1970, Janice opened a daycare in her home which she operated, caring for many children through the years. She retired in May of 2016. She also helped coach girls' softball teams for 11 years and helped with the Babe Ruth Baseball program in Parsons for eight years. Janice loved to quilt and gave many of them to former daycare children over the years. She also enjoyed doing crafts and decorating cakes. In September 2001, Janice founded a widow's support group and continued for five years.

Her son: Michael J. Hentzen and wife, Crystal of Parsons, Kansas
Nine Grandchildren: Kaycie Arnold, Reid Hentzen, Caleb Hentzen, Kylie Arnold, Noah Miller,
Carter Hentzen, Chandler Miller, Sadie Miller and Huntyr Hentzen
Two Brothers: Ronald Ginn
David Cornell and his wife, Verlene
Four Sisters: Pat Kanute
Sharon Hopkins and her husband, Tim
Cheryl Jefferson and her husband, Bob
Debbi Baugher and her husband, David
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Jones officiating. The family will receive friends following the funeral until 8:00 p.m. Cremation will follow the funeral service.
