Jason G. Harness, 50, of Mound Valley, passed away the evening of Friday, November 6, 2020, at his home. His death was unexpected.
Jason Gene Harness was born on February 20,1970, to Danny Gene and Linda Lou (Merrick) Harness in Coffeyville, Kansas. He grew up in Mound Valley and attended Mound Valley Grade School and Labette County High School.
As a young man, he started his working career traveling and working for a crane company. In 2014, he began working as a machine operator at Grandview Products, where he was currently employed.
In earlier years, Jason attended Mound Valley Baptist Church. His greatest joy came from spending time with his granddaughter. He liked playing guitars, especially playing rock music. Playing pool and doing anything outdoors were his favorite activities, along with cheering on the Chiefs.
On April 13, 1996, Jason and Robin Betts were married. The couple later divorced.

One daughter – Courtney Blackard and her husband, Justin, of Ramona, Oklahoma
One granddaughter – Kadence Blackard
His mother – Linda Killman of Mound Valley, Kansas
His father – Danny Harness and his wife, Carol, of Galena, Missouri
Five brothers – Billy Harness and his wife, Rachel, of Mound Valley, Kansas
Rusty Roberts and his wife, Johana, of Rahway, New Jersey
Dustin Harness and his wife, Tracy, of McCord Bend, Missouri
Jerod Harness of Galena, Missouri
Shaun Ralston of Parsons, Kansas
Two sisters – DaLynda McGinnes and her husband, Stoney, of Mound Valley, Kansas
Jamie Roberts of Mound Valley, Kansas
Two step-sisters – Dawn Adamus of Michigan
Kelli Garretson and her husband, Jeff, of Altamont, Kansas

He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Patricia Harness and one nephew, Jacob Harness.
The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 12, 2020, at the First Baptist Church of Mound Valley. Burial will take place at Mound Valley Cemetery. Friends may call 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The funeral service can be viewed live on the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home Facebook page. For all events, social distancing guidelines will be followed, including the requirement of face masks.
Memorials are suggested to the Kadence Blackard Education Fund. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
