Jean Blackburn, 87, of Parsons, passed away at 2:52 p.m., Friday, March 2, 2018 in the emergency room of Labette Health.

She was born January 6, 1931 at Garden City, Missouri to Lloyd and Ruby (Wendleton) Breeze.  Jean moved with her family to Parsons during her junior high years where she grew up and graduated from Parsons High School in 1949.

She was united in marriage to Junior O. Blackburn on October 9, 1948 in Parsons.  Over the years, Jean worked mostly in retail sales at various businesses in Parsons, including the former Kress Department Store, several years at J. C. Penney, for a time at Parsons Sun, Dwayne's Photo and Cablevision.

She was an avid seamstress and enjoyed sewing and other handwork.  She especially enjoyed quilting and had been active in quilting with the ladies at Wesley United Methodist Church in Parsons.  She also enjoyed going to casinos.

She is survived by her husband, Junior, of the home; her son, Roger Blackburn of Parsons, her daughters, Peggy Blackburn of Parsons and Annette Reutzel of Topeka, Kansas; three granddaughters; one great-grandson and one sister, Bonnie Robinson of Arizona.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

Following cremation, a private family service will be held.  The Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Parsons is in charge of arrangements.
