Jeanette P. Crain, 85, of Chetopa, passed away at 12:10 a.m., Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Chetopa Manor Nursing Home.

She was born May 22, 1933 at Okeene, Oklahoma to Henry Howard Baker and Glenna C. (Shirley) Baker.  She grew up and attended schools in Oklahoma until moving with her family to Rural Labette County in 1949.  She then attended the Labette County Community High School where she graduated in 1951.

On September 15, 1951, she was united in marriage to Floyd LeRoy Crain in Huntsville, Arkansas.  He preceded her in death on December 9, 1996.

Following their marriage, they lived in Coffeyville for a time where she raised dogs for several years.  Later, she began working for the H. D. Lee Garment Factory in Cherryvale, Kansas and had also later worked for the H. D. Lee in Chetopa for a time.  She continued working in garment manufacturing for many years and had most recently  worked at the King Louie Garment Factory in Baxter Springs, Kansas until retiring after a heart attack in October of 2018.  She was a member of the Christian Church in Chetopa, Kansas.

She is survived by three sisters, Shirley Vaughn of Starkville, Mississippi, Karen Baker of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Karol Green of rural Edna, Kansas; and one grandson, Craig Brooks.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Ricky Crain and Bobby Crain; one daughter, Melinda Brooks; and one brother, Lincoln Baker.

Following cremation, no other services are planned at this time.  The Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Chetopa is in charge of arrangements.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the First Christian Church of Chetopa and these may be left at or mailed to the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 346, Chetopa, Kansas 67336.
