Jennie M. May, 71, of Parsons, passed away Sunday morning, August 9, 2015 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. She was born December 29, 1943 in Labette County, Kansas to Barnard and Ethel (Foote) Ellis. She grew up in Parsons where she attended school and graduated from Parsons High School. On January 21, 1962, she and Charles Willard "Charlie" May were married in Parsons. Following marriage, she worked as a teller at Parsons Commercial Bank. She then worked at Wal-Mart from 1988 to 1998. Her husband's knowledge and experience with horses grew into a passion he shared with his wife and daughter as the family became prominent figures in the Labette County 4-H Horse Club having raised and trained quarter horses through the 1980's and into the 1990's. In earlier years, she was a member of the First Christian Church in Parsons. She enjoyed reading and being a leader in the 4-H Horse Club for many years. Survivors include: Two Sons – John Lee May and his wife, Stormy Parsons, KS Shane Michael May and his wife, Tammy Carl Junction, MO One Daughter – Julie Lynn Hull and her husband, Craig Carl Junction, MO Five Grandchildren – John Lee May, II, Brandon Wesley May, Jacob Frank May, Charles Anvil Hull, and Thomas David Hull Four Great-Grandchildren – Claire May, Abigail May, Mazy May, and Bella May; and one "on the way" One Brother – John Ellis Magnolia, TX One Sister – Judy Ellis Orlando, FL She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles W. "Charlie" May, on July 28, 2009; and one brother, Barnard Ralph Ellis. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 14, 2015 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Parsons. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to PALS (Proud Animal Lovers Shelter).
