Jerry C. Broyles, 77, of rural Chetopa, Kansas, passed away at 1:50 p.m., Monday, September 23, 2019, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
Jerry Clifton Broyles was born on December 19, 1941, to Clifton W. and Audrie Gladys (Hart) Broyles in Independence, Missouri. At age 3, Jerry moved with his family to Chetopa where he grew up and attended school. He graduated from Chetopa High School in 1959.
As a young man, Jerry lived in both Pierce, Idaho and Chetopa. While in Pierce Jerry worked at the lumber mill. In 1976, Jerry settled permanently in the Chetopa area. He was a welder at the Sunoco Metal Building Manufacturing Company in Chetopa and also farmed and raised cattle for many years.
Jerry was a member of the First Christian Church in Chetopa. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and guns.
On September 7, 1962, he and Lynda K. Hendershott were married in Pierce, Idaho. She survives of the home.

One daughter – Teresa Simers and her husband, Pat, of Charlotte, North Carolina
Six grandchildren – Savannah Patterson and her husband, Deren; Caitlin Simers; Sierra Simmers; Craig Black and his wife, Yvonne; Clifton L. Broyles; and Deanna Audrie Marie Broyles
Three great-grandchildren – Connor Black, Isabelle Black and Addyson Patterson
He was preceded in death by his parents; three infant daughters, Nina Jean, Mary Ann, and Baby Girl Broyles; and one sister, Leona Furnas.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 30, 2019, at the First Christian Church in Chetopa, Kansas. Burial will take place at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa.
