Jerry C. Hope, Sr.

Jerry C. Hope, Sr., 91, of rural Altamont, passed away at 9:37 p.m., Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at his home.

He was born in Barnsdall, Oklahoma to C. Merle and Myrtle L. (Gilley) Hope.  On September 6, 1952, Jerry and Mintie E. Clark were married in Pawhuska. Following marriage, they lived in Stillwater, Oklahoma while he attended and finished college.  He graduated from Oklahoma A&M (OSU) with a bachelor's degree in agronomy.

They then lived in Frankfort, Kansas, Yates Center, Kansas, and in December of 1959 moved to Altamont where they made their home and raised their family.

In these different locations, Jerry worked as a teacher in Frankfort, KS, a county agent in Yates Center and Altamont, was also Vice President of sales for Midwest Mineral from 1959-1984. Lastly, he worked at Grandview Products until retirement.

Jerry put his faith first through his entire life. He was a member of the Bartlett Christian Church and had recently attended the Western Way Cowboy Church near Altamont. In Jerry's spare time, he enjoyed spending time with family and flying many, various airplanes. He was an avid pilot and flight enthusiast. He farmed his whole life and was proud of being a 11th generation farmer.

Survivors include:

One Son – Clif Hope and his wife, Denise, of Altamont, KS

Two Daughters – Jan Taylor and her husband, David, of Independence, KS

Kathie Davis and her husband, Jim, of Hope, KS

Seven Grandchildren – Bryan Taylor, Ryan Taylor, Nicole Hope, Christopher Hope, Samantha Hope, Stephanie Hope, Shianne Davis, Twelve Great-Grandchildren

One Sister – Merlene Baird of Larned, KS

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one grandson, Clayton Davis and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 10, 2023 at the Western Way Cowboy Church, rural Altamont. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Altamont.  The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m., Friday, at the Western Way Cowboy Church in rural Altamont.
