Jerry E. Sullivan, 75, a longtime business owner in Erie and Parsons, passed away at 5:25 p.m., Thursday, February 23, 2017 at his home in Erie.
He was born January 7, 1942 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Charles E. "Ed" and Cora Berthina (Collins) Sullivan. He grew up in Tulsa where he graduated from high school.
He and Jo Dean Hudson were married on November 22, 1966. In 1971, they moved to Erie. He worked for Dwayne's Photo in Parsons from 1971 to 1976 before opening Sullivan Furniture in Erie. In December of 1984, the furniture store was moved to Parsons. While spending endless hours at the furniture store, Jerry always had a true appreciation for his customers and enjoyed his business immensely.
He was a member of the Faith Bible Church in Chanute, the Temple Baptist Church in Erie, and most recently the Berean Baptist Church in Parsons. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, studying his bible, and preaching.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Dean Sullivan, of Erie; one son, Mike Sullivan, of Erie; one daughter, Jenny Ray and her husband, Damien, of Chippewa Falls, WI; six grandchildren, Morgan Sullivan, Nathan Sullivan, Ryley Ray, Sydnee Sullivan, Caleb Ray, and Matthew Sullivan; two great-grandchildren, Natalie Sullivan and Bentley Sullivan.
He was preceded in death by one son, Randy Sullivan, in 2005.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Parsons. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.
