Jessie "Louise" Line, 98, of Cherryvale, passed away at 6:57 p.m., Thursday, January 26, 2017 in the Emergency Room at Labette Health in Parsons.
She was born April 20, 1918 near Cherryvale, Kansas to B.C. and Millie (Stover) Stigenwalt. She grew up and attended Mt. Zion School in the rural Cherryvale area. She also attended Cherryvale High School for three years and graduated from Labette County Community High School in 1937 after receiving normal training there.
Following high school she taught in a one-room schoolhouse for two years. Louise and Wayne Line were united in marriage on June 26, 1938 at the Methodist parsonage in Cherryvale. They lived in Chicago, Illinois for 28 years where she worked for a bank and later owned a convenience store. In 1980, they returned to the Cherryvale area where she had lived since.
Louise was a member of the Cherryvale Presbyterian Church and also attended Mt. Zion Community Church. Louise was an active worker in the church where she had played the piano for services for over 60 years and had been a Sunday School teacher and Children's Church worker for many years. She also loved growing flowers.

Five Grandchildren – Victor Line, Jeff Line, William Johnson, Michael Johnson and Jessie Line

Two Great-Great-Grandchildren and one "on the way"
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Line, on March 18, 2004; a son, Marvin Line; and two brothers, Ernest and Earl Stigenwalt.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons where the family will receive friends immediately following the service. Private burial will be at Harmony Grove Cemetery near Dennis at a later date.
