Jimmie A. Johnson, 68, of Altamont, died late Tuesday evening, August 3, 2010, at his home. He had been in his usual health and death was unexpected.


He was born November 7, 1941, in Parsons, to Robert Wayne and Dora Delpha (Warren) Johnson. As a young boy, he grew up on the family farm in the Timber Hill area. He was a 1959 graduate of Labette County Community High School in Altamont and also attended Parsons Jr. College.

Following high school he worked at Collins Radio Company in Dallas, Eagle-Picher in Socorro, New Mexico, and Lowrance Electronics in Tulsa. He farmed most of his adult life and also worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant for several years. In 1997, he began working as a team leader at Cessna and continued his employment there until his retirement.

He was a member of the Parsons Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and collecting knives.

He and Judith Ann "Judy" Robinson were married April 29, 1960, at the Open Bible Church in Parsons. She survives of the home.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Delbert Johnson.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 7, 2010, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons where the family will receive friends immediately following.
