Joan M. Geary, 89, formerly of McCune, passed away at 10:00 a.m., October 1, 2020, at Carrington Place in Pittsburg.
She was born on September 28, 1931 on a farm near Altamont, Kansas to Lloyd J. and Letha (Gearhiser) Terril. She grew up and attended schools in Altamont graduating from Labette County Community High School in 1949.
On January 2, 1955, she and James R. "Bob" Geary were married at the First Methodist Church in Parsons. Following their marriage, they lived in Baxter Springs several years before moving to McCune. Mr. Geary preceded her in death on March 19, 2017.
Mrs. Geary worked in in Parsons, and Joplin, Missouri. She later worked at the bank in McCune for several years. She was an avid reader. She enjoyed music and enjoyed playing the piano and organ, and watching sports and cooking.
She was a member of the McCune United Methodist Church and served as the church organist for many years.
Joan earned her 50-year pin for her membership in the Kent Chapter No. 117 Order of the Eastern Star in Weir.

Two Grandsons- James T. Geary of Tempe, Arizona
William M. "Will" Geary of Topeka, Kansas
Two Sisters- Sue Yeats of Nixa, Missouri
Margaret Seifert of Osage City, Missouri
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons; James Michael Geary and Patrick Lee Geary, and one brother, Stanley L. Terril.
Graveside memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday., October 7, 2020 the McCune Cemetery.
