JoAnn Giefer, 74, of Parsons, died at 12:02 p.m., Saturday, March 22, 2008 at her home. She had been in failing health.
She was born June 25, 1933, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Forest and Lucille (Blankenship) Voss. At the age of six, she moved with her family to Parsons where she attended Springhill School. She was a graduate of Labette County Community High School in Altamont and Labette Community College in Parsons.
She and Joseph T. "Joe" Giefer were married July 8, 1950, in St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. He survives of the home.
She enjoyed square dancing and especially enjoyed spending time with her family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Center Chapel Club and the Red Hat Society.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Lee Voss.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The rosary will be at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The family will receive friends immediately following the Rosary.
