Joanna Hope Thurber, 72, formerly of Chetopa, Kansas, died at 10:11 p.m., Monday, May 7, 2007, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Center at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita, Kansas.
She was born March 11, 1935, in Wichita to Emerson and Irene (Stewart) Benham. As a young girl, she grew up in Wichita. She was a graduate of Kapun - Mt. Carmel High School and Wichita State University.
She and Donald Thurber were married in Wichita. They had resided in Chetopa and later in El Dorado, Kansas.
She enjoyed her children, grandchildren, cooking, watching cooking shows, listening to gospel music, her two pugs, Milo and Otis, flowers, sending greeting cards and black licorice. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was a member of the Community Bible Church in Chetopa.
