Joanne M. Dillon

Joanne M. Dillon, 73, of Parsons, passed away at her home at 4:20 p.m., Wednesday, November 27, 2019.

Joanne Marie House was born on January 23, 1947, to Everett and Marion (Sowa) House in Fairbanks, Alaska.  When Joanne was 3, she and her family moved to Seward, Alaska, where she grew up and attended school.  Upon graduation from high school, in 1964, Joanne moved to Anchorage where she earned her Associate's Degree in Nursing.

In 1969, Joanne came to Parsons to be near her sister Judith Carolyn Hicks.  Joanne earned her Registered Nurse's license from Labette Community College and began her nursing career at Labette County Medical Center.  She began her career as an ob-gyn nurse, later becoming an operating room nurse.  She briefly left Labette County Medical Center to work at the Parsons Clinic as the first nurse for Dr. Agnes Aves.  Joanne returned to Labette County Medical Center, retiring as the Operating Room Nurse Director in 1995.

Joanne and Dr. William L. "Lonnie" Dillon were married on August 28, 1993.  Joanne and Lonnie traveled and made numerous friends around the world.

Joanne's greatest joys were her family and friends.  She especially enjoyed preparing home-cooked meals for them, while talking near a fire.  She also enjoyed dancing, reading, and mowing her lawn.

Her Children – Angela Trimble of Prairie Village, Kansas

Dev Beeson (Leigh) of Parsons, Kansas

Three Step-sons – Rob Dillon (Angie) of Girard, Kansas

Stan Dillon (Miranda) of Olathe, Kansas

Cory Dillon (Natasha) of Independence, Kansas

Twelve Grandchildren

Two Great-Grandchildren – Kaisley and Kendyn Trimble-Thomas

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Judith Carolyn Hicks and her  two brothers, Michael Everett House and Edward Donald House.

There will be a Celebration of Life at The Parsons Elks Lodge at 5:00 p.m. on December 14, 2019.
