Joseph H. "Joe" Dwyer, 83, of Parsons, Kansas, passed away at his home Thursday morning, May 2, 2019.

Joe was born on December 25, 1935, in Parsons to William Hugh "Honey" Dwyer and Josephine (Colchin) Dwyer. Growing up in Parsons, he attended St. Mary's Catholic Elementary school and then St. Patrick's High School from which he graduated in 1953.

From 1954-1955 Joe attended St. John's Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri. He returned to Parsons and attended Parsons Junior College in 1957. In 1960, Joe earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a minor in Languages from St. Mary's of the Plains College in Dodge City, Kansas. Joe served in the National Guard from 1959 to 1965.

Joe began working as a welder at Ankortite in Parsons before moving to Wellington, Kansas in 1964 to work at a CPA firm. He returned to Parsons where he worked as the Comptroller and Production Manager for Princess Homes until the company moved to Newton, Kansas in 1975. Joe had a very interesting professional career that included moving to Pompano Beach, Florida, with Zimmer Corporation. The company built exotic cars and did van conversions. He began as the general manager and held the positions of Corporate Comptroller, Vice President of Production and then President of Production. He travelled extensively for the company, inspecting all facets of the business operations. Eventually, he returned to Newton, Kansas and was Comptroller for Collins Cars, which built limousines and hearses. Joe moved back to Parsons in 1995 to care for his father-in-law. He worked for Executive Auto in Parsons until he retired.

On July 5, 1968, he married Judy Groff at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Parsons. She preceded him in death on February 7, 2013.

Joe was a devoted and active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Parsons. He attended daily mass and assisted with the mass frequently. While Joe lived in Florida and Newton, he served as a Eucharistic Minister and lector.

Robert Dwyer and his wife Margy of Kansas City, MO

Stephen Dwyer and his wife Debbie of Seattle, WA

David Dwyer of Seattle, WA

Two Sisters – Judy Harris and her husband, Gary, of Parsons

Sue Williams of Louisville, KY

Numerous Nieces and Nephews

He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy; his parents, Hugh and Josephine; and his sister, Anita Marie Dwyer.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 6, 2019 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Fr. Curtis Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m., Sunday May 5, 2019 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the rosary.

Joe has requested no flowers, he would prefer to have Masses said.
