John R. Foister

John R. Foister, 75, of Edna, died at 10:15 p.m., Thursday, August 18, 2011, at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

He was born January 25, 1936, in rural Edna, Kansas, to Jesse and Alta (Hayes) Foister. As a young boy, he grew up in rural Edna where he attended Parkville School and was a 1954 graduate of Edna High School. He worked at John Deere Coffeyville Works as a machinist for 30 years retiring from there in 1993.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Edna where he served as a trustee for many years and assisted with the construction of the new church on a daily basis. He was also a member of the Royal Neighbors and was currently serving as treasurer of Masonic Lodge #345 in Edna. He enjoyed playing fast pitch softball, golfing, and following his grandchildren's sports. He was especially pleased when the LCHS softball team presented him a #1 fan certificate for his continued support through the years.

He and Martha G. Seger were married October 26, 1958 at the Methodist Church in Edna. She survives of the home.

Numerous Nieces and Nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 22, 2011, at the United Methodist Church in Edna. Burial will be in the Edna Elm Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-5:00 p.m., Sunday, at the church.
