John W. Forshey, 79, of Garnett, passed away the evening of Saturday, May 10, 2025, at his home.
John Wesley Forshey was born on June 27, 1945, to Howard and Juanita (Devine) Forshey in Parsons, Kansas. He grew up and attended school in Parsons. Following high school, John served in the United States Navy.
After being honorably discharged from military service, John returned to Parsons, where he lived most of his life. From 1965 to 1966, John worked at Deep Rock. He then worked at Sunflower Sales in Galesburg from 1966 to 1968. He began working as a machine operator at TecTank in 1968 until his retirement in 2010.
He enjoyed playing softball, bowling, shooting pool, and fishing. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family.
On June 24, 1966, John and Betty Jean Beach were united in marriage. She survives of the home.
He is also survived by his daughter, Tabitha Lundquist (Shawn) of Garnett, Kansas; his son, Joe Forshey (Julie), of Parsons, Kansas; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and two sisters.
The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday, May 16, 2025, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery in Parsons. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
