John L. Hardeman, 88, of Parsons, died at 1:45 p.m., Saturday, April 12, 2008, at the Good Samaritan Society in Parsons. He had been in failing health.
He was born July 17, 1919, in Oxford, Kansas, to Lyman Lynch and Grace (Shriver) Hardeman. He grew up and attended schools in Leavenworth, Kansas. He later attended the University of Kansas where he earned two degrees. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy from July 1943 to February 1945.
Through the years, he lived in Leavenworth and Shawnee, Kansas; Trenton, Missouri, and Ft. Dodge, Iowa. In 1992, he moved to Pittsburg before moving to Parsons in 1999 where he had resided since.
He and Evelyn F. Davidson were married February 23, 1945, in Corpus Christi, Texas. She survives.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Ft. Dodge, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M., Monday, April 21, 2008, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in the Ft. Scott National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m., Monday, with military honors given by Olson-Frary-Burkhart Post No. 1165, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon on Sunday.
