John L. Haviland, 59, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, formerly of Parsons, passed away, surrounded by his loved ones, at 1:51 p.m., Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville.
Johnny Loren Haviland was born on February 24, 1960, to William F. and Lorene Violet (Schoonover) Haviland in Parsons. As a young boy he grew up in Altamont and attended schools in Welch and Altamont. In 1978, John graduated from Labette County High School.
He spent most of his career as a welder at Ruskins Manufacturing in Parsons until his retirement due to disability. He moved to Bartlesville in 2016. In his younger years, John was a bull rider, and throughout his life, he was a New England Patriot's football fan.
John was an avid golfer, who played golf most every day, even after work on the weekdays, and traveled to golf tournaments with his friends on the weekends. Katy Golf Course in Parsons, KS, was his home away from home. He loved golf and time with his golfing buddies so much that one time Johnny was even hit by a golf ball in the back of the head and was bleeding, but there were still 18 holes to play. Even though his friends tried to get him to go to the hospital, John said it was nothing, never considered leaving the course, and played through with blood dripping down his neck and back. He just loved playing golf and being with his buddies.
On April 13, 1990 John and Rhonda J. White were united in marriage in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives of the home.
