John R. Holland, 91, of Las Vegas, Nevada, formerly of Parsons, Kansas, died at 2:10 p.m., Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at his residence.
He was born March 12, 1923 in Greenfield, Missouri to Ottis Kirk and Mayme (Hach) Holland. He had retired from Shugart Construction Company in California.
He and Virginia Stanfield were married. She preceded him in death in 1976. On November 28, 1991, he and Kathryn (Gahagan) Carter were married in Las Vegas, Nevada. She survives of the home.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Parsons.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Doug Holland and his wife, Pam, of Bartlesville, OK and R. L. Carter, Jr., of Parsons, KS; two daughters, Cindy Way, of Wichita, KS, and Kaylene McCullough and her husband, James, of Parsons, KS; seventeen grandchildren including Alisha Barnhart Mulkey and her husband, Jason, of Webb City, MO, and Dustin Barnhart of Parsons, KS; seventeen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Danielle Holland.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 8, 2014 at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Parsons under the direction of the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home.
