John F. Madl, 77, of Parsons, passed away at 5:14 p.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at his home.

He was born December 10, 1937 in St. Paul, Kansas to William Antone and Grace Cozette (Richardson) Madl. He grew up and attended school in St. Paul and was a 1956 graduate of St. Paul High School. Shortly after graduation, he moved to California where he worked as a diesel mechanic and large equipment mechanic for many years. While living in California, he also was a supervisor at ICX Transportation Group. John had lived in Parsons since his return to Southeast Kansas in 2000.

In earlier years, he was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul. He was also a member of the International Association of Machinists. He enjoyed tinkering and building things.

He and Mary Smith were married. They later divorced. On June 22, 1963, he and Arlene Phelps were married in Las Vegas, Nevada. She preceded him in death on September 23, 2006. On May 15, 2015, he and Symantha K. Thomas were married. She survives of the home.

Wilma Cass Parsons, KS

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, two sisters and one stepson, Donnie Beck, in 2004.

Following cremation, memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, June 13, 2015 at the Living Hope Baptist Church in Parsons.
