John C. "Chuck" Reel, 69, of San Antonio, Texas, and formerly of Parsons, Independence and Arkansas City, passed away the afternoon of Sunday, July 3, 2022, at his home.
Chuck was born on July 13, 1952, to Robert L. and Dorothy Jean (Lero) Reel in Parsons. As a young boy, he moved with his family to Independence where he grew up and attended school. He graduated from Independence High School.
For a number of years, he worked in his family's body shop, B & D Body Shop, in Independence. He then worked for Quality Chrysler in Independence. Chuck moved to Arkansas City, where he was a groundskeeper for the city of Arkansas City until he retired. He moved to San Antonio to be closer to his family.
An avid Chiefs fan, Chuck loved his family, especially his kids. Cars and cooking barbeque were also two of his favorite things.
Survivors include:
Two sons – Tony Reel of San Antonio, Texas
Johnathan Reel of Mobile, Alabama
Three grandchildren
One brother – David Reel and his wife, Tammy, of Parsons, Kansas
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Jim, R.L. and infant Michael Reel.
The graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at Oakwood Cemetery in Parsons. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home.
